8A – Solving The Problem

I believe that the idea of a small, portable laptop charger specifically for college students is an idea that has potential. There is a niche for this type of product. A charger that does half the work of a regular laptop charger in twice the time is appealing to some students. It meets a need of students who need a quick charge to get to 50% on their way to class or while sitting in class. With the idea of customizability, there’s is a solid belief that this idea could hypothetically work. However, I do understand that there are some issues regarding my potential product. One of the issues is the ability to customize their product. An issue with this would be different colors and designs. I believe at first, I could solve this issue by using plastic cases for the battery charger instead of stronger material. This provides the opportunity for multiple colors and saves money because plastic is much cheaper. Another issue with customization is designs. I believe this issue could be resolved at first with stickers, and eventually the company would move into designing the case itself with different college logos.

  1. Christian, I do think this product has lots of potential. Everyone in college has to use their computers throughout the day and a fast charger would be life changing. The fact that you want them to be portable and customizable with design is a great idea, and probably your best selling point. Knowing me I would probably just forget to charge the portable charger haha. Good post!

  2. Hey Christian,

This is often a factor in the initial design and construction of each and every laptop. To overcharge a laptop just to obtain faster charging is dangerous. I would focus on how to get the wide variety of charging metrics, plugs, and safety factors across all the manufacturers. I love the idea because I would get something that performed this function, but the issues that come from this particular idea safety wise makes me weary.
