1) You.
My name is Christian Stewart. After doing some assignments that have forced me to take a deeper look at who I am, and what other people think about me, I am glad to know that I am the person I thought I was an more. It was refreshing to know that others view me as someone who is outgoing, but also as someone who is a fixer. I believe this will go a long way towards my business product as having someone who is willing to fix issues that arise while also being someone who can make connections and really push my product are excellent traits towards my business. Like I said before, I still believe that if I were to pursue marketing this product, it would have to be a full-time commitment.
2) What are you offering to customers?
The product I am offering has not changed, it is still a portable charger that charges laptops twice as fast as other chargers in half the time. However, some specifics have changed. After conducting many interviews, the idea of selling different end ports of certain chargers (Mac, Microsoft, etc) have been added to my charger from these interviews. Another interview even gave birth to the idea of customizable chargers with designs from university logos to greek letters on the actual charger itself.
3) Who are you offering it to?
My ideal target audience is still college students, mostly freshmen, who are in need of a portable charger to get them to class with enough battery to last throughout the day. However, after doing some research, I have also been opened to the idea of marketing to parents of college aged students, as they would be just as likely to purchase my product as students would be. I am also still entertaining the idea of marketing to business professionals, but am more focused on the college scene.
4) Why do they care?
Nothing has changed in this department, as my product still meets a specific need for students and business professionals. My product saves both students and business professionals time and money. This is important as both of my customers value these things immensely in their professions. My product meets a need for these consumers, and does it while appealing to their loyalty to a university or organization.
5) What are your core competencies?
I believe that my ability to be outgoing, as well as my passion for problem solving give me an opportunity to excel in the selling of my product. This has not changed, as I know that these core competencies will not only set me apart from everyone else, but give me the ability to succeed in a small market.
In addition to these five elements, please spend a paragraph evaluating whether you believe these elements fit together or whether there are aspects of your business concept that are weaker / out-of-joint with the others.
While I do believe that almost all of my elements fit together for my product to succeed, there is one aspect that could potentially cause an issue in my products success. Personally, I do not have the technological know how to create my product, and that could stop my entire item from existing. This is an issue, that if I were to make this idea a reality, I must have a solution to. Unfortunately, I am not sure how to find out if my idea could be invented or if it is just simply an idea.
Feedback memo:
Two of the more important ideas I received feedback wise, is the idea about having multiple charger cords, as well as having a customizable design. These two ideas were not my own, but rather were ideas that I received through interviews of others. Both of these ideas that I received from potential customers have taken my products potential and driven it even higher. I incorporated these two ideas into this idea napkin by discussing them in prompt 2, What are you offering to customers. In that prompt, I discussed how the general idea for my product has not changed, but the added bonuses make it an even better product than before.
Christian, I agree that through these assignments I have been forced to look closer at who I am and what my strengths are. The reflections have helped me to understand my weaknesses and learn from them. I thought this idea napkin addressed what you missed in the last one and expanded on it. I now have a better understanding of what you are trying to capture.
ReplyDeleteHey Christian,
ReplyDeleteEver since coming to college it's been a constant introspection. What I've taken from it all is that college isn't just classes and test, which are important. Rather college is study of the self, a test of ones limit, a test of ones values, and a test of endurance. At the end of this journey one can't help but look back. Every mistake, every success, every lost friend. That's not the point of this assignment, which displayed great reflection of your idea, but rather the important things. Hold your friends dear, care for your family. They are the only things that will care back.
Christian, I agree that all the elements you discussed really reflect and puts your product in a good light. If you had technological intelligence to make it real, it would be a hit for sure. You cannot let something like that stop you because there is definitely somebody out there who knows whether or not your product could be attainable. These assignments really have helped see who you really are and it is cool to see how you relate to selling an idea for a product.
